The City of Dania prides itself in being the first municipality or city in Broward County to have been incorporated, dating back to the 1880's when it started as a settlement, then called Modello. The 'official' date or incorporation was November 1904. Most of the 35 residents in the city at that period were of Danish ancestry, and changed the name to City of Dania. In 1999 the City of Dania changed their official name to Dania Beach, however Dania is still commonly used to refer to the City.

Dania Beach is made up of about 6.31 square miles, with an estimated population of 21,500. The city on the eastern side of Braoward County with approximately 1.1 miles of beaches. To the north of Dania Beach is John Lloyd state park and the city of Fort Lauderdale; to the west is Ft Lauderdale and the city of Hollywood, which also borders the south of Dania.

I love the beaches of Dania Beach and John Lloyd State park. If you enjoy scuba diving or snorkeling, there is plenty to see of the beaches of Dania. There are several huge coral head formations, plenty of tropical fishes to see, and great fishing as well. If you go just south of the pier, in about 100 feet of water, you will find a sunken barge, that is great to dive. There are plenty of small tropical fishes and large ones too!
