When getting the exterior of your house ready to sell, the big decision is whether to paint or not to paint. When you look at your house from across the street, does it look tired and faded? If so, a paint job may be in order. It is often a very good investment and really spruces up the appearance of a house, adding dollars to offers from potential home buyers.
Think of it as if you were the buyer! Does the appearance of the house exterior invite you in?
When choosing a color, it should not be something garyish and unusual, but a color that fits well in your neighborhood. Take a drive down the block and see the other colors. Of course, the color also depends on the style of your house, too.
For some reason, different shades of Yellow seem to illicit the best response in homebuyers, whether it is in the trim or the basic color of the house.
As for the roof, if it looks old or worn, clean it or hire a roofing contractor. There are several companies that can clean, and seal the roof to make it look years newer. This is fairly inexpensive compare to it’s results. If you are somewhat handy and think you can do it yourself to save some money, there are several chemicals that are sold at your neighborhood hardware store. If you are going to use a pressure cleaner just keep it on low pressure and at a safe distance from the shingles. If you have tiles….. walk carefully!
And don’t forget about Curb Appeal
